About Motion Metrics and Carv

Motion Metrics Ltd is a London-based, sports technology scale-up with offices in London (UK), Innsbruck (Austria) and Shenzhen (China). Our first product is Carv, the world's first digital ski coach. Our smart inserts and trackers retrofit to any ski boot to measure motion (in 9-axis) and pressure data; this is then processed via our iOS or Android app to provide real time coaching.

We have worked with top-level instructors from PSIA (The Professional Ski Instructors of America), CSIA (Canadian Ski Instructors Association) & Interski to create algorithms that effectively assess ski technique. Carv gives real-time feedback through headphones to help you take your skiing to the next level through the provision of practical, skier-specific improvements. 

Carv has the capacity to transform ski technique by providing one-on-one coaching for each day of skiing and we are able to take the learning of thousands of athletes and use it to improve the technique of an individual skier in fun, interactive and effective ways. Carv is pioneering a new type of sports wearable device within the fast-growing sports-tech industry. Thus far sports wearables have focused on tracking and motivation but Carv offers a teaching and coaching service, forging a new path within this sector. 

This is an outstanding opportunity to work in a fast growing VC backed sports technology start-up in London, alongside a fantastic team of customer service and marketing experts, hardware and software engineers, who are all passionate about changing the paradigm of coaching.

Job Description

Carv is looking for a high performance team player to join the team this season for a 6 month internship at the forefront of digital transformation in skiing. 

Following a sellout season in 2020/21, for the 2021/22 season, Carv is launching and testing a number of new sales channels to allow us to reach even more customers, transform the way we work within resorts and have a huge impact on the future of the product and business. 

The ideal candidate will have an intuition for new opportunities but also an eye for detail and will be working hand in hand with our clients to make sure the season is a success. The candidate will be outgoing and a great relationship builder who understands the importance of delivering a high quality service and going above and beyond to uphold the high standards of the Carv brand. The candidate will also be expected to have some analytical understanding and ability to think critically about success and failure of new channels. 

Working alongside the Business Development Manager, this role will have excellent exposure to the market working directly with some of the biggest commercial brands and shaping exciting new ways for mountains and skiers to connect through world-class technology. The candidate will also be expected to travel extensively.

In the role, day to day activities will fall in to 3 key areas;

Nurturing New Opportunities: 

  • Monitoring inbound requests from possible future partners

  • Conducting initial meetings to understand the opportunity 

  • Selecting the best sales channel to suit the opportunity

Client Success: 

  • Working directly with our partners to ensure they have everything they need to be a successful sales channel for Carv

  • Designing campaigns to drive partner satisfaction and make every partner feel like they are the number one priority

  • Spending time on site (in ski resorts) to assist partners with various projects / campaigns, speak directly to customers and build an understanding of channel effectiveness

Account Management: 

  • Take orders from existing partners and ensure the smooth supply of units

  • Manage returns and warranties

  • Ensure invoices are paid on time and keep track of sales figures

Seven months, from September 2021 until March 2022

Location

Our London office is a short walk from Vauxhall. Assuming no COVID-related travel restrictions, the internship will include travel to our accommodation/office in Innsbruck, Austria, and other european bases during the ski season, when required.
