Are you looking to spend a winter working in the Alps?  No experience necessary – as we train you for all you need to know to do the job - you just need to have a great personality, plenty to talk about and a commitment to deliver fantastic customer service to our guests.  Ski Amis is a long-established, family run business and has 19 catered chalets in the top resorts of the Three Valleys and Paradiski in France.  We have a 50 strong team in resort and we take pride in our staff and the high quality service they provide – we expect you to work hard and be committed to delivering these levels of quality and in return we provide you with all the tools and support you need to make this task as easy as possible, with plenty of piste time guaranteed and a flexible remuneration package so you can make the most of your season.

Job Details

As a chalet host in our large 28 bed chalet "Chalet Christine" in La Tania, you will be part of the team responsible for providing the high quality catered chalet holidays we are renowned for in one of our busiest chalets with the widest variety of guests, from large groups or families with children to individual couples and single people - you will get to know them all in this chalet.

You will report to the Chalet Supervisor who is responsible for the overall management of the chalet but you will also work with the Chef in the preparation and serving of breakfast, afternoon tea a three course evening meal.  This will involve vegetable preparation, baking, making starters - or whatever the Chef feels you are capable of assisting with to reach the end goal of an amazing meal.  You will also be required to undertake daily cleaning of the chalet which includes making beds, and cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms, the kitchen and other general living areas as well as a midweek towel change.  On change over days you will be required to turn around the chalet from the previous to the coming weeks’ guests - or you may be acting as a transfer driver to collect and deliver guests to and from local airports and railway stations.  Your role will also involve other duties depending on the requirements of the team in resort and will include covering days off in other chalets, clearing snow or basic chalet maintenance.

If you are an allocated a driver role (at least one of the chalet hosts in the chalet will be a driver), you will receive full winter driving training and will be issued with a French professional drivers licence (subject to a medical and CRB check) which is valid for 5 years.  

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in the hospitality industry preferred but not essential
  • Excellent social skills to deal with the general public and a variety of people including children
  • Excellent standards of cleaning and hygiene
  • Team player who is able to live and work with other people within a close environment
  • Must have a full UK driving license held for at least 2 years - all staff must be able to drive and we are particularly looking for candidates who have two years of professional driving experience in some capacity (which can be confirmed in writing from a previous employer) or a professional qualification such as a D category coach licence, C category truck licence, taxi licence, or RoSPA Advanced Driving Certificate.

All applicants MUST be over 21 years of age (for insurance purposes), have held a full EU driving licence for more than two years and be resident and working in the UK with an existing permanent NI number and tax record.  You must be available for a face-to-face interview at our head office in Maidstone, Kent.
